AI Recruiting Platform Alex Raises $20 Million in Funding Led by Peak XV Partners

SAN FRANCISCO — Alex, a startup using artificial intelligence to automate corporate recruiting tasks, announced Monday it has secured $20 million in funding to expand its platform and grow its team.

The financing includes a $17 million Series A round led by Peak XV Partners and a previously unannounced $3 million seed round led by 1984 Ventures. Other participants in the funding include Y Combinator, Uncorrelated Ventures, and several chief human resources officers from Fortune 500 companies.

Alex provides AI agents designed to handle routine hiring tasks such as conducting initial video and phone interviews, screening resumes, scheduling follow-ups, and detecting fraudulent candidates. The platform integrates with existing applicant tracking systems, aiming to reduce the administrative burden on human resources departments.

The investment signals continued confidence from venture capitalists in AI-driven solutions for the HR technology sector. Proponents argue such tools can help companies manage large talent pools more efficiently and reduce the time-to-hire.

“In the future, AI agents will run the entire recruiting process autonomously. It’s inevitable,” said Arnav Sahu, a partner at Peak XV Partners, in a statement. “Alex could redefine how hiring is done across the entire labor market.”

Since its launch 18 months ago, Alex says its platform has been used by hundreds of companies, including Fortune 100 corporations, major financial institutions, and Big Four accounting firms.

The company plans to use the new capital to deepen its AI capabilities and further its goal of helping organizations evaluate a wider and more diverse pool of candidates.
